Hi ya’ll, my name is Allyson Parker! I am so thrilled to share a little bit about myself and my journey that has lead me to the prayer room as a fulltime intercessory missionary. To start let me say that I am blessed beyond words with a family that has solid Christian roots and long Christian heritage. I was born into a bible believing, Jesus loving family and because of that I have always been surrounded by Godly examples of a deep and intimate relationship with the Lord.
When I was six years old my family and I were living with my grandparents because we had just moved and not yet found a house. It was one night at their house when I was taking a bath and I asked my mom about Jesus, it was in that moment all soapy in the bath tub that I prayed with my mom to receive Christ. From that moment on I can always remember having sensitivity to the Lord in a special way and a deep longing to serve Him.
It was not until I was 14 when I went on my first mission’s trip to Romania that I was absolutely positive I wanted to be in ministry fulltime. After four years of high school I had been on several missions’ trips both national and international but not yet had a peace or direction about were the Lord wanted me to go or what He wanted me to do. So after graduation I went off to college and after one semester transferred to Liberty University. I was there for a year and a half and in the midst of this time the Lord began to draw me and call me into a place of surrender that I had never been or had never seen. He was calling me into a life style of consecration before him as an intercessory missionary.
In the summer of 2007 I came home from school with every intention of going back, but the Lord in His greatness had a different plan. On July 7, 2007 my mom, Aunt Sharon and cousin’s lyndsey, Tyler and I all attended The Call, in Nashville Tennessee at the Titans stadium. Seventy thousand hungry believers gathered for a day of prayer and fasting. It is this day that the Lord hit me with such a reality of who He was and exposed me to the very core. I was ruined for Christ and Hungry in a way to know Him that I had not yet experienced. After returning home, I went to IHOP-AC, one morning for prayer and it was then that I knew I had to participate in the One thing internship.
The Lord orchestrated my life in such away through hundreds of little situations and many big ones to set me up for a life of total surrender and consecration before Him. After completing the internship, December 14, 2007, I was confident that the Lord had called me to be a fulltime intercessory missionary. There is no other place I would rather be than standing and sitting before the Lord in intercession and living a life of total consecration before Him as an intercessor!
